SACRAMENTO — Leaders from across California praise Governor Newsom’s actions to defend California’s elections from potential interference from the Trump administration as the November midterm elections approach, including creating new felonies for those who do so. Today’s election-protection package fulfills the Governor’s promise from July 4, when he pledged to defend and protect the ballot against political interference, particularly from the Trump Administration’s relentless efforts to destroy the right to vote for millions of Californians.
Assemblymember Marc Berman: “While Trump continues to lie about election integrity and obsessively undermine our democracy, California is showing the nation that voters deserve accessible, secure, and transparent elections. I thank Governor Newsom for putting California voters first.
