AUSTIN, TX, UNITED STATES, August 10, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Lightspeed Systems today announced the release of Lightspeed Hall Monitor, a significantly updated digital hall pass solution that is now available as a standalone product for K-12 districts. The release introduces expanded capabilities supporting schools' complex operational, safety, and compliance needs.

Lightspeed Hall Monitor gives teachers a frictionless pass workflow, administrators building-wide visibility in real time, and districts the documentation they need to demonstrate policy compliance and honor student accommodation plans. The product is built into the Lightspeed platform that tens of thousands of schools already use for filtering, safety, and classroom management, meaning no new software, no additional logins, and no separate contract.

"Districts have been telling us the same things: paper passes are untraceable, students know how to work around them, and when something goes wrong, there is no record," said Jennifer Duer, EVP of Product at Lightspeed Systems. "Hall Monitor closes that loop. You know who is out of class, where they are, and whether a pattern is forming before it becomes a problem. And because it lives in the Lightspeed platform, IT stays in control of the data and which users can manage configuration for each school."

Specifically, Lightspeed Hall Monitor addresses several gaps for school leaders:

Building-wide visibility. Teachers and administrators see every active pass in real time, including status (active, overdue, pending, waitlisted), destination, and elapsed versus allowed time. A full pass history and an analytics dashboard are available at the school and district level.

Meetup detection. Hall Monitor automatically flags students who are frequently out of class at the same time. Administrators can also manually block specific student pairings so their passes cannot overlap, allowing staff to act on known conflicts before they escalate.

Per-student exceptions and accommodation tracking. Students with IEP or 504 plans can be assigned individual exceptions for pass time limits, daily or weekly pass counts, and auto-approved destinations. Every pass generates an audit trail that can be produced during compliance reviews.

School-level configurability. Districts can set policy at the district level and allow each school to configure its own locations, time limits, and approval rules within those guardrails. An elementary school and a high school on the same contract can have entirely different pass setups.

Kiosk mode. Any browser, including iOS, can run Hall Monitor in kiosk mode, extending digital pass management to gyms, cafeterias, and any other situation where students do not have a school-issued device.

Emergency Off. All passes can be disabled instantly, district-wide or school-wide, for emergency situations.

"Every minute a student spends outside the classroom is a minute of instruction lost,” said Amy Bennett, Chief of Staff at Lightspeed Systems. “Lightspeed Hall Monitor gives schools a way to protect those minutes without creating new work for teachers or new headaches for administrators. That is the kind of practical impact we are focused on delivering."
