Russia Blasts U.S. Over Unlawful Use of Military Force in Caribbean

(MENAFN) Russia has issued sharp criticism against the United States over what it characterizes as disproportionate military action in Caribbean anti-drug operations, according to Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on Saturday.

The Kremlin diplomat accused Washington of breaching both its own legal framework and global statutes. Zakharova noted that this viewpoint has gained traction among multiple nations and global institutions, specifically citing UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk as sharing similar concerns.

"We reaffirm our firm support for the Venezuelan leadership in its efforts to defend national sovereignty," she said.

"We advocate for preserving the Latin American and Caribbean region as a zone of peace," she said.

Zakharova further emphasized the necessity of implementing measures to reduce tensions and enable diplomatic resolutions to current challenges within the parameters of established international regulations.
